Disability Group

The Disability Group joins the Government Policy Group in meeting with Ministers and civil servants. The Disability Group also responds to public consultations across various different government departments and made a submission to the Lamb Inquiry into Special Needs.

Revised Letter to Local Authorities March 2010

Following a series of discussions with EO Disability Group, the Department for Children Schools and Families has sent a new letter to local authorities making it clear that the child and the home do not have to be seen during the Annual Review of the Statement of Special Needs.

Raising the Profile of Home Education and Special Needs in Parliament

Disability and special needs in home education has gained a higher parliamentary profile as a result of the formation of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Home Education. The EO SEN Contact has spoken to Members of Parliament about home education at home education Briefing Events for the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

The Disability Group liaises with other organisations such as the National Autistic Society, IPSEA and Contact- A-Family as appropriate.
